Yukon nursing pay rates
PIPSC – Yukon Hospital Corporation · Feb 1 2022 – Jan 31 2025
Expired — in bargaining
Yukon pays ONE shift premium of $3.25/h for every hour between 16:00 and 08:00 — there is no separate evening and night rate, so both are set the same here — and another $3.25/h for every hour between 20:00 Friday and 08:00 Monday. Both are paid on overtime hours too, which is unusual. In-charge pay is a PERCENTAGE, not a dollar amount: 10 % of your straight-time rate for hours worked on weekends, general holidays, before 08:00 and after 16:00, so applying Yukon converts that against your own rate. Overtime is 1.5× for the first four hours and 2× after that — the same stepped pattern applies on a first day of rest, while a second or subsequent consecutive day of rest is 2× outright. A worked general holiday is 1.5× for four hours then 2×, or 2× throughout if it follows a day of rest you also worked. Preceptoring pays $0.60/h. The Yukon Bonus of $2,242 a year after each year of service, and the remote-community recruitment and living allowances under Policy HR-35, are not modelled here. This covers Whitehorse General, Watson Lake and Dawson City; Yukon government community health nurses bargain separately through YEU/PSAC. The agreement lapsed January 31 2022.
